California School Library Association

1915-1934 and 1995-2015 California School Library Association. The association was was established on August 25, 1915, in Oakland, California by eight school librarians who were attending the National Education Association Conference. In 1934, the name changed to School Library Association of California (SLAC, 1934-1964). In 1964, the name changed to California Association of School Librarians (CASL, 1964-1977). In 1977, the association consolidated with the California Association for Educational Media and Technology (CAEMAT) and changed its name to California Media and Library Educators Association (CMLEA, 1977-1995). In 1995, the association returned to its original name, CSLA.
