The California School Library Association celebrates its 100 year heritage on these pages. A collection of documents, journals, bulletins, newsletters, conference and workshop brochures, correspondence, minutes and equipment is housed at California State University, Northridge in the Oviatt Library Special Collections and Archives Department. This site is the first step at making much of that information available online.
In February, 2016, CSLA will publish The 100 Year History of the California School Library Association: Learning Through Books, Media and Technology. Those attending the CSLA conference will be the first to receive their copies as members of CSLA. To be a part of this publication visit here.
The Digital Timeline is a great place to start your tour. The timeline is divided into four eras.
- 1876-1915 Prologue
- 1915-1945 Early Years
- 1945-1977 Post World War II
- 1977-2015 Modern Era
The timeline includes national, state and association events. There are several methods for navigating the timeline. View this short video before visiting the Digital Timeline.
The Leadership Archive records the involvement of CSLA members who served in elective offices and on committees over the last 100 years. This information is searchable and filterable. So far only a small number of leaders have been entered. In time, information on all leaders will be accessible.
The Motions Archive includes motions made during CSLA Executive Board meetings since the association’s re-incorporation in 1977.
